Waupun police issued a flurry of parking tickets following the first snowfall of the season on Sunday, setting off an avalanche of complaints from citizens.
“I think the city needs to define the ‘following day’ language in the ordinance,” said Jason Wierenga, one of 132 citizens that received a $20 parking ticket early Tuesday morning. “The police department claims the snow stopped falling at 12:30 Monday morning. My ticket was issued at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. I think the vast majority of people that were cited believed they were following the ordinance.
