Medicare scam reported in Wisconsin

Residents are urged to hang up if they receive a phone call claiming they need a replacement Medicare card. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection recently received a complaint on behalf of a senior who received a phone call from a group calling itself Preferred Benefits to Seniors. By the end of the call, this consumer had turned over her bank account number to the caller, but was able to close her account before any money was stolen, according to a department press release.
